Yesterday was the first Tuesday in over two years, that I didn't have to go to Activity Day. I had somewhat mixed emotions regarding this, since I love, love, love Activity Days! But with the changes at work (and the quickly-approaching move!!) its was time to be released... Actually, I was glad to be able to use work as an excuse, since I'm trying to keep the move on the down-low. I hope to sneak quietly out the back door of the ward, with as few people as possible the wiser. :)
I guess I can always petition the people in the new ward to let me do Activity Day...it works - this is how I ended up in there to begin with! I put the right bug in the right ear, and viola! My very own hand-picked calling? I always thought I would like to work in the Young Women's program, but with my work schedule coupled with single-ness playing against me it is probably a pipe-dream. Activity Day is the next best thing, since they're getting prepared for YW and it is only twice a month (in our ward at least - I have heard of this being weekly in other wards).
One of the good parts about being released is I'm calling-less for the time being! Hooray! What to do? Oh yes, sit back and enjoy... :) The other good part is I don't have to deal with the presidency nonsense...the initial presidency I worked under was sort of hands-off/laid back; not so much with the current. I know it's been said before - I do not like being told what to do and don't enjoy being treated like I don't know what I'm doing! Which is what has happened under the current leadership. :P Hopefully, the new ladies will be a little more amenable to being told what to do...
p.s. I don't really miss studying as much as I thought I did! The Series 27 is a complete bore. More so than the CPA exam, in my opinion...not saying much though. At least with the CPA stuff, I had seen it before. The Series 27 material, not so much. I guess it's a good thing I have had a lot of practice studying! :)

I can't speak to the work situation, but I think a single sister would be invaluable to the YW program. As much as we hope these girls will all grow up, earn their medallions, marry in the temple, and live happily ever after; statistics do not bear that out for each and every YW in the church. Sometimes I feel like we set the girls up for failure when we promise them a rosy future and don't prepare them for lives that may turn out differently. (And that comes from not only someone who knows you and things you have a lot to offer those girls, but also a member of the stake YW Presidency where we discuss this frequently.)
What she said. Marriage status isn't a factor in my decisions. Character and responsibility are.
Enjoy! It probably won't last for long because you are TOO tremendous to NOT have at Activity Days!!
Hi! I am your swap partner for Mamarazzi's swap! And hey, I was just released as Activity Days leader a couple weeks ago AND I'm from Texas (Dallas-area) though I currently live in Utah. I think we are meant to be together.
