Hmmmmmmmmm – still not really “settled in” at the house…but I better get a move on, since MoM and Dad should be coming in just over a month! Guess I better get busy.
When I moved in, I went to Home Depot and bought some red geraniums for the front porch and a patio tomato plant for the back porch. Lo and behold, I have actually harvested tomatoes off that plant! They look like some sort of grape tomato and they’re delicious. The good thing is that the plant has already paid for itself in savings from me not having to buy tomatoes at the grocery store… :) I hope that I can keep harvesting all summer long, but I don’t seem to have many (if any) blooms on the plant right now. I’m not sure if the plant is concentrating on ripening all the fruit right now and can’t be bothered with making flowers too, or it once this fruit is ripe it’s finished for the season. I guess I’ll find out…
I bought a backyard composter! (yes, I have a composter and still no furniture) They had it at Sam’s club and I couldn't resist. I have already put some stuff in it and so far no smell, but supposedly a good composter will not develop a smell and if it does something is wrong! I have plenty of grass clippings to put in there, since they mow the yard and don’t pick up the clippings. I’m sort of glad about that, since it’s fodder for composting. However, I think the lawn guys should have a better mower if they’re not going to collect the clippings… Regardless, I don’t have to actually mow the lawn, so I guess it’s all good.
I’m slowly sealing the miles of grout I have in this house! I’m probably about halfway through. I want to know who in their right mind decided to put so much tile in this house? What?! It was me?? Sheesh – nobody to blame but myself for my own misery! I am happy with all the tile, with the exception when I’m sealing the grout…grumble. At least I have finished all the bathrooms, the dining area, the entryway and the backsplash in the kitchen. So, it’s not like I haven’t been working on it…but, by now it should be all finished. Yep, when I get home from work it’s about the last thing I want to do! Plus, it’s hard to keep the kitties out of the way while I work. My new strategy is to do small sections at a time and have a definite time limit (maybe 30 min tops). That way, I get some done on a regular basis and don’t have to commit to a huge area at a time! Oh – and I told myself I can’t get my living room furniture until it’s all finished! (it would be a huge pain to do once furniture is in the living room)
In other news, I’m almost finished with the swap package for SoonerSis. I just have to get the apron made! I did dig out the pattern, fabric and embellishments though. So, now I just need to buckle down, cut it out and sew the thing! :) I have found some good stuff, so I hope she likes it! Our theme was Spring/Pink, since we’re both pinkies and it is spring. (FYI – pinkies in our world are people who like pink! Nieces Z & E think people who like pink are kin to the devil and always say “pinkies” like it’s a bad word) In all honesty, I have done better with the “pink” part of the theme and not so good with the “spring” part! Oh well, it’s the thought that counts…and all the goodies are things that I would keep/buy for myself.

Don't stress about the package!! I am sure I will LOVE it. You forget I am pretty easy to please:) I am woried that you may not like the one I got you. I hope so!! I think I got a well rounded assortment of pink and spring but I can't remember everything so I may be wrong.
URGH for sealing grout but good for you to limit yourself. It wouldn't get done if I were having to do it. Hubby did all that mess.
I am jealous of your tomatoes. I got a raised bed for a veggie garden for Mothers Day and some Topsy Turvey tomato planters too so I will have my very own soon hopefully.
I didn't know Mom and Dad were headed down there. They didn't tell me that!!! You better get a move on or they will be there before you know it. If not tell them to bring lawn chairs:) Are they staying with you?
Let me know how you like the composter. Mom said she would share her compost with me and I will contribute to said compost but I may just end up needing my own.
I've been thinking about those backyard composters - they had one at Lowes that I almost bought. Now I wish I had, since they don't have any more.
