Tornadoes - I was there for the infamous May 3 tornadoes...and that was waaaaaaaaaaaaay too close for me! There was complete destruction less than a mile from my parents' house. Yep, don't miss tornadoes one bit!!
p.s. Happy Birthday Melessa!!! :) Hope you have a wonderful birthday!

Amen to that! I think exactly the same thing every time I hear news about tornado-caused death and destruction. I absolutely do not miss crouching in the bathtub with my siblings, hoping that all of my loved ones still have bathtubs of their own to crouch in until the storm passes. It didn't help that my middle school was built half underground for the sole purpose of serving as a good tornado shelter -- nothing like that daily reminder of terrible storms to come to really cheer a kid up.
Wow!!! That's horrific, I think Utah has only had one and everyone really freaked out about it. Iam sure compared to what you girls have been through, it wasn't much!
Stay safe!
As for natural disasters, I fear earthquakes, especially when Ifound out my childhood home was on a fault line! yikes!
It's funny because I'm pretty laid back about them unless I have a 'funny feeling' which I really did on May 3. I remember when Anne lived here all those years ago and she mentioned spending an evening in the bathtub and thinking "people really do that?" So far, the May 3rd of '99 tornado is the only one that drove me to that. Thanks for the birthday wishes!
The only thing I remember distinctly about the May 3 tornado is us being outside (yep, we were crazy!) and it being totally calm...and were amazed at the huge hailstones and the craters they made in the lawn. After the fact, we figured it was about the time that Del City/Midwest City was being hit. Um, probably not the smartest thing to come out of our "Harry Potter room" before the radio said it was safe. But at least now I would know better... :)
p.s. D'Arcy - I grew up in Davis County and was always a little concerned about the Wasatch Fault...especially after learning about it in geography!
