7 Random Things

My sister SoonerSis tagged me for this meme...haven't done this one yet so here goes! :)
  1. I'm a neat-freak at work and my desk is super-organized, everyone that comes to my office notices. The sad part is at home, totally different story...always a mess and in desperate need of straightening. :(
  2. I don't cook. It's not that I can't, I just don't. I guess being an eternal student and then studying for the CPA exam took away my inclination. I'm trying to get better at this and may even get a couple cookbooks for inspiration.
  3. I'm semi-vegetarian, technically a lacto-ovo-vegetarian (I think). Not in a crazy sense of vegetarianism, I still will wear leather shoes and carry leather purses. I just abstain from meat, which I just can't touch and pretty much grosses me out!
  4. I have a stubborn streak. (Thanks MoM!) I do not like being told what to do and if you tell me to do something I'm likely to do the opposite. OR, I'll just dig my heels in and fight tooth and nail and grudgingly do what I'm told.
  5. I started sewing when I was 8 years old. I don't enjoy sewing, unless it's a simple project (curtains, apron, pillow, etc.). I have long since given up trying to sew myself clothes...it's not worth the frustration and possibility of me spontaneously combusting due to high blood pressure. (I wish I were kidding about this, but I'm completely serious!)
  6. I'm building a house and literally have nothing to furnish it! Unless you count the tiny bit of bedroom furniture I have...desk, desk chair, bookcase, bed, TV stand. Yep, not quite what you need to furnish a 2-bedroom house. Guess I better get shopping...mmmmm, shopping! :)
  7. I'm the oldest of 4 kids...not sure if this is considered "random" or not. As an oldest, I'm very territorial when it comes to my stuff! From what I have observed in the real world, this is something unique to oldest children and they don't grow out of it!! I think this is why KayTee and I were such good roommates. We respected each other's space, and more importantly, each other's stuff. :)

p.s. I'm still anxiously awaiting my CPA license...they're sure slow getting this stuff processed! :(

Don't worry -- once you have the house, furniture will multiply like bunnies. When I bought my house I had a futon, a dresser, two armchairs, an end table, and a cedar chest. I didn't even have a bed, yet I had three bedrooms to fill. It was pitiful, but, on the bright side, I definitely didn't have a clutter problem. Within a month people, knowing I had just bought a house, started offering me furniture that they didn't need or wanted to get rid of. In the first year I lived here I accumulated, through handouts, an awesome, long dining table and two teak cabinets for the dining room, an old-ish but very comfortable queen-size bed for the guest room, a pair of nightstands for the guest room, and random assorted lamps. I bought six dining chairs, two desks, a wardrobe, a bed, and two nightstands in the first year. I bought other stuff in the second year. By the time I had lived here two years I had no room to bring a single new piece of furniture into this house. I've been trying to get rid of stuff ever since, and I just barely manage to keep on top of it. I'm slightly terrified by the amount of space I can fill and by the prospect of moving.
